Artist’s Statement: During this time with the pandemic, resentment and hatred grows stronger towards people of Asian descent. In these troubling and unfortunate times, we need to stand firm and together. Through this performance we profess our pride in our heritage hoping that others can see beauty in our dance, rather than a disease. We are not the virus, hatred is.
Donald Pham, age 20 from Tucker, Georgia, has been dancing and performing since 6th grade for his local church’s annual Fall Festival. Gradually learning and momentously improving, he started choreographing Vietnamese traditional-pop dance in the 10th grade and is now the choreographer for the Vietnamese Student Association at the University of Georgia, arguably the best North American collegiate Vietnamese association known for their traditional performances
